1. before long 不久 ( soon or in a short time )

同義: soon、shortly

before long 指不久，很快，與 soon 同義，表示時間。可用於未來式。它只能單獨使用，後面不能接子句。這裡 long 是名詞。

例句1:  One child jumped in the pool, and before long, so did the rest of the children.

例句2:  Before long, Federer was the number one teenage player in the world and ready for the big time.(the big time=出人頭地)

例句3:  Before long a large crowd had gathered outside the building.

2. so far 到目前為止 ( until now )

同義: thus far

so far 表示到目前為止，相當於時間副詞，一般與現在完成式或現在簡單式連用，可放在句首，句中或句尾。

例句1:  So far, I have done my work very hard and done well on all the projects.

例句2:  So far we have not had to borrow any money.
